Fr Jacinto Kibuuka, who was recently consecrated as Bishop of the Antiochian Eastern Orthodox Church has been dragged to Buganda Road Court, with lawyers accusing him of uttering words and engaging in acts that “injured feelings” of Roman Catholic Church leaders and followers.

According to a charge sheet obtained by this website, around October 29, 2016, while appearing on Beat FM, Kibuuka “uttered demeaning words against the head of the catholic church in Uganda, Arch-bishop John Baptist Odama and Archibishop Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga referring to them as ‘Abayaye’ [crooks] well knowing that such utterances would injure the feelings of Catholics who consider them as their sacred leaders…”

The incident came after Jacinto Kibuuka excommunicated himself from the catholic denomination.

Kibuuka, at the time, was accused by the Roman Catholic Church leadership of disobedience.

Archbishop Lwanga in a July 12 notice announced Kibuuka’s suspension, indicating the he had also banned all activities of Kibuuka’s Mamre International Prayer Centre, which is located in Namugongo, Wakiso district.

Lwanga further instructed all Catholic believers that it was forbidden to participate in any event held at the centre.

The renegade priest would consequently proclaim that he had quit the Roman Catholic Church for the Eastern Orthodox congregation of Catholics, accusing some people in the church of misleading Bishop Lwanga.

“I love Archbishop Lwanga, but he has been misled by self-seekers who are jealous of my success in praying for people and during the Pope’s visit,” the priest said as quoted in Daily Monitor.
