Abdallah Mubiru was crestfallen after Police’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Mbarara City on Saturday but picked lots of positives from the game.

Goals from Hilary Mukundane and Siraje Musindo gave the Ankole Lions their second victory of the season turning Saafi Basani’s would be equaliser into consolation.

“It’s a painful defeat,” he said. “But there are lots of positives to take home,” he added.

The boys controlled the game even on an unplayable pitch, created goal scoring opportunities but were just unfortunate not to score more than once.

Police conceded early in each half but were on three occasions denied by the cross bar while goalie Ali Kimera also did well to keep City in the game with three match winning saves.

Mubiru however wasn’t happy with the manner in which his side conceded the two goals.

I think we could have defended better with the two set pieces and it’s one area we have to work on.

On how much the defeat to Mbarara means to the team’s aspiration this season, the former Vipers, Proline and KCCA coach says its early days.

The league is a marathon and teams will drop points. How we react to this is now important.

Police’s next game is on Wednesday October 25 against Kirinya Jinja SS at Namboole.
