The body of the late Johnnie Ahimbisibwe, who passed on after being struck by Ivan Kamyuka during a fight at Club Guvnor on Sunday, was laid to rest this evening at his ancestral home in Ibanda.
While the burial took place, Ivan Kamyuka, the accused appeared before Nakawa Magistrates Court where he was charged with murder.
Experts had earlier speculated that Ivan would be charged with manslaughter and thus would be a free man after doing a few years in prison, but this was not the case.
According to the CCTV footage which was handed over to police by Guvnor, Johnnie threw a glass at Ivan who was in the company of his wife Nina Nyarwaka. Ivan then picked up one of the broken pieces and struck Johnnie’s neck, leading to his death minutes later.
Nina, who has a child with the deceased, had been arrested to help in the investigations but was released on Monday. She will however appear before court as a state witness during her husband’s court session.
May Johnnie’s Soul Rest In Peace. And may justice prevail.
