Former Budonian criticises school over ‘Jubireewo’ song, says the poor video shows how far Budo has fallen

David Ejalu who attended the famous King’s College Budo in from 1989-1992 has lashed out at his former school for losing her shine.

In a letter addressed to the School Board of Governors which Matooke Republic has seen, Ejalu faults the school for the viral ‘jubireewo’ song that was largely trolled on the internet during the week of the Kabaka’s 25th Coronation anniversary.

“Is the performance and appearance of Budo in the “Jubileewo” song representative of the brand of Budo? Where are the schools of the children of the Mengo elite? Actually, where is
the school that Princess Ssangalyambogo attends, for example?” he queried.

Ejalu further asserted to the Budo’s performance had greatly declined over the years compared to St. Mary’s Kisubi, Namagunga and other top schools.

“It is very common in Budo these days for students that score marks as low as 30% or less in exams to be promoted to the next class at the end of the year.”

“I was a parent at Budo for 4 (four) years from 2013 to 2016 and noticed there was a culture of mediocrity that had developed among the students and staff of the school,” the letter read in part.

Ejalu further opined that out of approximately 300 students admitted to the school in Senior One in 2013, more than half came in on special non-academic terms.

This, he says, ensures students keep in the school despite continuously very low grades and generally exhibiting poor uptake of Budonian ethos.
