I can’t join social media tax demonstration, those involved are seeking cheap popularity — Bebe Cool

Singer Bebe Cool has labelled social media tax demonstration as ‘nuisance and unpatriotic’. According to Bebe Cool, Members of Parliament must take the first blame saying; “All MPs no matter the party are to blame for the new taxes that seem to be burdening most Ugandans.”

The singer further questioned why we did not witness any scuffles in parliament when the taxes were being tabled and later passed.

“They let the proposed taxes pass without any fight as we saw during the age limit. But now they are fooling Ugandans as they were not aware of the taxes.”

He further  stated that artistes involved in the mobilising demonstration are seeking cheap popularity.

“Those involved are looking for stupid spotlight. Artistes are the first people who don’t pay tax off their gigs. Yet ordinary Ugandans pay taxes from the little they earn,”  he stated.

Back to the tax, Bebe Cool says, before the leaders plan to engage in any debate, they must first sensitize their people on why government is in need of more taxes. He further says the new tax will help curb the violators of social media.
