Nsimbi, a duo formed by Ugandan hip-hop artist GNL Zamba and American world fusion artist Miriam Tamar, have released a new video dubbed “Mujje”, their first single off upcoming self-titled debut album.
“Mujje,” which is Luganda for “Come all,” is a song about the power of coming together as humans. In the afro-futuristic music video, these African sayings and ancient symbols emanate from the universe and surround dancers who are caught in a black / white binary world and entangled in their negativity. The shaman figure played by Zamba helps them disconnect and cord-cut from their emotional baggage (fears and addictions) and tap into an inner electricity, and positivity that is pure joy from within.
GNL Zamba says that through the video they hope to encourage people to get off the grid, to move past a single dimension and physically come together and unite in community. “Binaries should not be seen as opposition, but like electric charges necessary to come together to create a circuit and emanate light,” he said in press statement.
