Popular songwriter Saxess Busulwa is dead. According to reports, he passed on at CORSU, Entebbe after a failed abdominal surgery. The singer  was reportedly involved in an accident over ten years ago and started developing complications recently.

He underwent a successful surgery in July at Rubaga Hospital and seemed to be getting much better. According to a tribute from a close friend, the late drove himself to hospital for the surgery that would put him back on the road.

At the time of his death, he was working on a  project with Police called ‘Neighbourhood watch” to sensitise the public on crime and their role in helping police. He also was one of the leading faces in the ‘Save Uganda Music’ campaign.

The late wrote several songs including “Fire Tonight” by Rema, “Gold Digger” by Jackie Chandiru, “Butterfly” by Nameless, “Endiba” by Juliana, “Awo” by Leila Kayondo among others. In 2014, he scooped songwriter of the year in Hipipo awards.

Rest in Peace.
