Kenya’s Attorney-General Githu Muigai has warned NASA leader Raila Odinga that he faces the death penalty should he be sworn in as “people’s president.
He says Odinga’s planned inauguration is illegal as Kenya already has a sitting president so such a move tantamounts to treason, whose penalty is death.
Muigai says if he goes ahead with his plans government institutions will respond appropriately at the right time.
Raila Odinga on Sunday announced fresh plans for his swearing in ceremony after suspending similar plans on December 12.
