The hearing of a case for issuance of an arrest warrant for Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir is scheduled for tomorrow at the High Court International Crimes Division.

This miscellaneous application was filed by the civil society organizations that demanded for the arrest of the Sudanese president Omar AL- Bashir who is wanted by the International Criminal court (ICC) over atrocities he committed against humanity.

Speaking to the media Bashir’s arrival in Uganda, the chairperson of the Human Rights commission Muhammad Ndifuna said it’s unfair and treacherous for Uganda to continue associating with criminals.

He added that this should be done in respect of the Sudanese people and the crimes president Bashir committed.

However in a letter signed by Harriet Ssali the Registrar CID, reveals that the Attorney General, Justice Minister Gen. Kahinda Otaffire will be the respondents in this case.

The special development with this case is that the accused person, President al-Bashir left the country this evening after a two day official visit on the invitation of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who has ruled Uganda for over 3 decades.

President Bashir who is wanted by the Hague-based International Criminal Court (ICC) on two counts of crimes against humanity and genocide of more than 300,000 deaths in Sudan’s Darfur region this afternoon arrived in the country for a two day state visit.

The court issued double warrants for him; 2009 and 2010 on two counts of crimes against humanity and genocide of more than 300,000 deaths in Sudan’s Darfur region. Copies of the warrants were served to government.

ICC handles four major international crimes of aggression, war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity.
