Here Are The Top 20 Most Popular Ugandans on Facebook

Social media has become part and parcel of our lives in Uganda right now, with the instant passing of information proving invaluable. No other industry uses social media platform more than the entertainment industry.

Facebook is the most used social media platform not only in the world but also in Uganda today. We did some digging and came out with the 20 Ugandans with the largest Facebook following.

The list is dominated by musicians and politicians. The ranking is based on the number of ‘likes’ each page has. As of today, here are the most popular Ugandans on Facebook:

1: Kansiime Anne

The seriously funny comedian Anne Kansiime is the most followed Ugandan on Facebook. She has over 1.3 million loyal fans (she call them ‘ninjas’) all over the world and the number keeps growing. Her page was set up in 2013.

2: Juliana Kanyomozi

Juliana is the most followed Ugandan female musician on Facebook. The “Woman” singer started her page in 2011 and is very popular all over the continent. Her page has been growing at a rate of over 24,000 new followers per month and is the 2nd fastest growing Ugandan page.

3: Bebe Cool

Gagamel boss Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool boasts of over 390, 000 followers on facebook. The “Byebyo” singer has the most Ugandan following, according to stats from SocialBakers.

4: Jose Chameleone

Joseph Mayanja a.k.a Dr. Jose Chameleone is one of the most popular musical artists in Africa. The Leon Island Records boss’ popularity reflects on Facebook where he has over 300,000 followers.

5: Angella Katatumba

The singer and songwriter comes fifth on this list of most followed Ugandans on Facebook. Angella has won multiple awards for her music, including the Humanitarian Award for my “For You Gulu” and Climate Change Projects she won in 2013. She has considerable following from outside Uganda.

6: Eddy Kenzo

Eddy Kenzo’s “Sitya Loss” hit earned him alot of fame here in Uganda and all over the world. The 2015 BET Viewers Choice International Act has over 250,000 Facebook followers, with 44% not being Ugandans.

7: Irene Ntale

Since rising to fame with her “Gyobela” song in 2013, Irene Ntale has become one of the biggest music stars in Uganda. Her Facebook page garners 30,000 new followers every month and is the fastest growing Ugandan personality page.

8: Maurice Kirya

With an equal share of music, humour and satire on his page, Maurice Kirya keeps his large following of fans well entertained.

9: Yoweri Kaguta Museveni

Kaguta is the president of Uganda and the NRM flag bearer in the forthcoming general elections. Nearly half of his following is from outside the country though.

10: Navio

Daniel Kigozi a.k.a Navio is one of the finest and most followed rappers in the region. After having a good year 2015, he has started off the new year by releasing a new ablum, “The Chosen”.

11: Desire Luzinda

Desire Luzinda had much fame in 2014 when her leaked nude photos broke the internet. Her page got verified around the same time and her music career went on a new high following the incident.

12: Mariam Ndagire

In the 12th position we have singer, actress, playwright, film director and producer Mariam Ndagire. She is famous for her role in the Tendo Sisters.

13: Rema Namakula

Wife to Edirisa Musuuza, Rema is the 13th most popular Ugandan on Facebook. The talented singer who recently became a mother is one of the most admired music personalities in the country.

14: Bobi Wine

Musician Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine has a huge following especially in Uganda. His music is loved by many because it usually carries an educative message.

15: Amama Mbabazi

The GO Forward presidential candidate and former Prime Minister of Uganda has had his following on Social Media increase over the past year when he announced his presidential bid.

16: A Pass

His page keeps growing rapidly due to his occasional educative posts about real life issues. A Pass is also loved for his nice music. His songs “Wuuyo” and “Memories” were some of the biggest last year.

17: Radio & Weasel

Radio & Weasel are the most famous singing duo in Uganda. It is no surprise that the Goodlyfe boys held two successful concerts last year. Their hits “Juicy juicy” and “Bikoola” rocked the year.

18: Pallaso

Pius Mayanja a.k.a Pallaso launched a successful career in Uganda on his return from USA in 2014. He recorded mega hits like “Amaaso” with Radio & Weasel and “Mundongo” with Sheebah Karungi. and his career has been on a high since. His collabo with Nigerian Davido grew his fame in across Africa. He has over 85,000 fans on Facebook alone.

The hot socialite has fame following her. The Boss Lady is the girlfriend to Tanzanian music heartthrob Diamond Platnumz and is also famous for her all-white themed parties.

20: Keko

Undoubtedly the best female rapper in Uganda, Jocelyn Tracey a.k.a Keko rose to fame in 2010 with her solo “This is how we do it”. At around 70,000 followers, she is the 20th most popular Ugandan on Facebook.
