However, Coca Cola distanced themselves from copyright infringement claims in a letter written to Kenzo’s lawyers on 25th July.

“We have confirmation that the video for ‘A billion Reasons to Believe’ that is currently being aired in local and digital media in Uganda and elsewhere was produced by Ogilvy Africa Limited, the agency appointed by Coca-Cola Central East and West Africa Limited to oversee the production of the TV Commercial. We are advised that the footage used on the production of the TV commercial is not owned by your client as alleged but by a Mr. Dauda Kavuma, a Ugandan national, and founder of the Triplets Foundation, who contracted with the agency. On the basis of the foregoing, we contend that Century Bottling Company Limited has not been involved in any infringements of your client’s intellectual property rights to the Sitya Loss video production/motion picture as alleged, or at all,”
