We have received heartbreaking news of Desire Mirembe Jemimah, a Makerere University Student who was raped and then brutally murdered in Jinja.
Desire left for Jinja on Friday for a Christian Fellowship. She was a very religious girl who was excited to worship and spread the word of God.
On Saturday, she sent her mother a message saying that she was stranded and needed some money. Unfortunately this was the last time the mother would hear from her baby.
Her friends started a thorough search campaign on Sunday evening through social media urging whoever had seen Desire to contact the family members.
Desire’s body was found today (Tuesday 14th) afternoon in Kawolo, Lugazi. She was raped and killed as confirmed by a family member who was in so much pain.
Desire went to Mt St Mary’s Namagunga before joining Makerere University to pursue Bachelor of Science majoring in Speech and Language therapy.
