This is NOT the first time we’ve heard the rumour that Drake and Serena Williams are “dating”.
And it’s also NOT the first time Drake was seen at a tennis match, so let’s all stop pretending this year’s Wimbledon was the first time the rapper “learnt about tennis”. OK? Soz, but we thought we’d cut Drizzy some slack.
In 2011, Drake supported Serena at a match of hers in Toronto, Canada.
After her match Serena told The Toronto Star : “Oh, man. Really? We’re really close friends. “Can’t be too close to a friend nowadays, I guess.”
However, what is interesting about Drake’s support this year is that he was reportedly spotted kissing the 33-year-old tennis champion in the clubhouse, after her victory against Victoria Azarenka in the Wimbledon quarter final earlier this week.
She was then rumoured to have embraced him after her press conference on Friday.
A source told The Sun : ”Publicly she says they’re just friends but Drake has been by Serena’s side throughout the tournament and when they’ve been away from the public and relaxed, it’s been pretty obvious that they are together.
”Even Serena’s team have been talking about it in the clubhouse to a few people they trust. She has been incredibly focused on her title bid. But if she’s had a quiet moment she’s spent it with Drake, even going to watch his Wireless set and having dinners in London.”
Drake posted a picture of Serena lifting the Wimbledon trophy for the sixth time this year and captioned it: ”Showtime Champ. A big plate for all that food you ate at Wimbledon! (sic)”
Despite Serena denying the couple’s relaionship in 2011 – they reportedly did date for a brief time.
In 2012, Serena told Celebuzz! (who claim the pair dated): ”I’m a really emotional person. I give my all and everything. I do make mistakes — like every human does — but the last relationship just was too much of a heartbreak for me.
“I just can’t go through that anymore. It was hard.”
