Ssemujju

Opposition Members of Parliament have this afternoon boycotted today’s parliament session over the September raid by unknown people alleged to be security forces.

Speaking to journalists shortly after storming out of the House,  the team Led by the Chief Opposition Whip, Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda, tasked the Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah to explain why they were attacked by unknown people.

Ssemujju added that there is no reason as to why they continue being in a place where their safety is not guaranteed.

It should be noted that these demands came in following Speaker Rebecca Kadaga’s letter that demanded the president to explain who the people that attacked parliament were something that has never been responded since last month.

In a letter dated October 23, copied to the Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Affairs, Inspector General of Police and Commander of the Special Forces Command, Kadaga seeks for answers on identities and motives of the operatives involved in the regrettable raid and purpose for their deployment.

Kadaga also demanded  to know who commanded the operation as she insists that CCTV footage shows that a section of the people seen beating MPs are not attached to parliament as staff or the sergeant- at –arms.

Oulanyah instead brought several other bills not at all related to the demand prompting the MPs to walk out of the Tuesday plenary.
