Yesterday but one, singer Rema Namakula was called by police after the arrest of two old Kampala students who were stealing people using her name.
The two boys had a Facebook account in the singer’s names, identity cards with Team Rema plus a stamp.
After the arrest, Rema took to social media to warn the public not to fall victims of such.
She said; “Attention Attention. conmen alert and in this case conboys Alert.These two young boys have been coning people using my name for more than a year. They are both students at old Kampala Secondary school. They have been getting money from upcoming artists for promotion and collaboz. They have coned people with weddings and introductionz. They have Facebook accounts under the name Rema Namakula.”
“These boys have cards plus a stamp all in my names. Please don’t be fooled I don’t beg for money from my fans at any point so do it at your own risk.” She added
The Tikula singer also went ahead to apologise to those who have been conned in the same manner.
“ I apologise to those that have fallen victims to this foolery.”
