Interview: Rema Namakula Talks Music, Gagamel Exit and Kenzo

Eddy Kenzo’s better half, Rema Namakula, was a guest at the NTV Mwasuze Mutya programme this May and these were some of the highlights for the interview:
I joined this industry when I was young but I was able to juggle between singing and music, I dropped my course at Kyambogo University … Singing is part of me because from the time I was little, I’ve always been into music. Halima Namakula is my guardian angel, (she is my mom, aunt) and I confide in her in everything, she has been there for me in my entire life. It was Halima Namakula that linked me to Bebe Cool.

Gagamel Exit

I have no regrets leaving the Gagamel Crew. We’re still friends with Bebe Cool, he has always been my mentor in music though we are not that close like we used to. I was with Gagamel for more than five years, but the time was just right to quit. God has been on my side because since then, things have not been the same again.

My Music

I did prepare for this period, so I recorded lots of songs way before giving birth, so I will be releasing them in bits…. I’m doing just fine when it comes to music. I do not write my songs but most of the times, I compose the story and song writers like Saxxes and Nince Henry will pen them down.

Eddy Kenzo

He has not come to visit my parents but when the time is right he will do so, I was only performing at their home and that was me and his mom, then tabloids started writing about the pre-introduction ceremony but the truth is, he has not..
