Fyona Kirabo is a make up artist and an Award winning TV personality hosting the ‘Muvubuka Weyogerere’ show on Bukedde TV.

411 UG‘s Winnie Nantongo had an interview with her and this is what she had to say…

Qn: Why did you choose to do TV and make up, not something else?
A: Weirdly I’d never thought or dreamt of ever doing any of the jobs.I only thought of being a radio
presenter, great fashion designer among other dreams. However it’s been people that have noticed these talents in me.

For TV it was a church friend that told me I would be a great TV host if I tried it and for make up it was my workmates that started appreciating the way I made myself up so they also
started asking me to help out once in a while before they went on air, before I knew it they had involved my bosses and wanted me to be officially hired as the station’s make up artist.

Qn: What are the biggest challenge make up artists have to face?
A: Challenges depend. Sometimes it’s with the clients, at times they come with their own ideas of make up and not all times are they the best, however you just have to be patient with them and be ready to advice them as you explain why you think something different is better for them. The other challenge is some of the best make up products that do a perfect job are abit costly so as you work you must plan to raise your budget so as to be updated with the best products as competition is tight.

Qn: If a client asks for what you are sure would not suit her, how do you convince her to go otherwise?
A: It’s simple, you need to build a relationship with your clients as soon as you see or talk to them, when that is done it will make it easier for you to advice them on what you think is right or best for them.

Qn: Tell me about your experience as a make up artist?
A: My experience hadn’t been that bad as most of my clients are first my fans or fans of the presenters or artists I’ve worked on so when they come to me they come knowing exactly what I can do which makes things easier as they respect and appreciate me.

Qn: What is the difference between applying make up for a TV shoot and applying make up for a live appearance party?
A: The difference depends because also TV shoots depend, some are indoor others outdoor and others on chroma so it depends but all I can say is there are so many colours that are good for live appearances but don’t look good on TV.

Qn: Okay, away from make up. On what do you spend the most: Clothes, accessories, perfumes or anything else?
A: Uuumm, tricky question. Am not sure what I spend most on but it depends on seasons. Sometimes shoes other times hair. At times cloths so yes it depends. But I think cloths because of the job I do working on TV.

Qn: What else do you like other than what you do?
A: I like designing as in producing my own collections something am
planning on doing. I like charity and I have plans for a foundation but will open up about the details with time not now. I like acting, producing movies and soon you will be seeing me act in some projects.

Qn: What sickness have you ever lied about so you wouldn’t go to work?
A: Sickness? No. I haven’t lied about any as I love my jobs alot and I always don’t want to miss out on them.

Qn: What was the la!-st lie you told?
A: (laughs) ‘sijukira’ I can’t recall, the last lie I told was that I was in love, just recalled.

Qn: Best Compliment you received?
A: Not sure, I guess alot of people telling me I have a heart of gold and some who say I have magical hands like Mary Luswata calls them. And the many girls out there telling me am their great role model.

Qn: Are you a bathroom singer?
A: No am not just a bathroom singer but an anywhere singer especially when am alone. I love music.

Qn: And lastly, what do you do when not working?
A: Am a home girl. I love being home if not at work even if doing nothing. I just love being home.

Winnie: Thanks for your time it has been nice talking to you. Can you please tell someone interested in your make up services how to reach you.

Fyona: At the moment am still mobile but one can reach me on my Facebook page as Fyona Kirabo and Twitter @kirabofyona to discuss details.
